Hess & Stoynoff is a sterile (low pollen stainability; chromosomes mostly univalents), triploid (n = 27) hybrid between Spiraea douglasii Hook. var. menziesii (Hook.) C. Presl (a tetraploid, n = 18) and Spiraea splendens E. N. Baumann var. rosea (A. Gray) Kartesz & Gandhi (a diploid, n = 9)..."
